"THE RETURN OF THE MOCK TRIAL: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (The BEPC Version)" (View Flyer)

Date:   February 24, 2010 (Download to Outlook)
Time:   3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Speaker:   This event will be moderated by William D. Kirchick, Esquire

It is a second marriage…Both spouses have children from prior marriages. The proverbial battle of the stepchildren: It is step-son vs. step-daughter and step-mother…It is step-daughter vs. step-son and step-father…all hell is about to break loose…IT IS TIME TO GO TO TRIAL. The first mock trial of the Boston Estate Planning Council in a decade is about a step-son and step-father seeking to overturn an estate plan implemented for step-father by the step-daughter and step-mother that involves (i) cashing in a high cash value policy for another policy of dubious value, (ii) rearranging the control over step-dad’s estate; and (iii) steering assets away that step-father intended to leave to his children.

We will have a probate judge, an assistant registrar from the probate court, reputable probate litigation attorneys, expert witnesses both from the medical profession and in the insurance and accounting of fields of practice, as well as the greedy step-son and the ruthless step-daughter, in person! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: IT IS TIME FOR DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS - THE BEPC VERSION

This program is expected to be of significant value to all involved in estate planning, as it will impart valuable information about how to get it done correctly and how to avoid controversy that results in litigation. We expect the judge to render his opinion on the case and to give his insight as to what is important in the trial advocacy process.
