Silva, Esquire of Hunton & Williams LLP’s Miami Office practice focuses on international tax law with emphasis on U.S. investment structures, cross-border tax issues, tax treaty planning, withholding obligations of U.S. real property investments and U.S. activities of foreign banks.
Mr Silva advises foreign clients on U.S. income, estate and gift tax consequences of alternative inbound investment structures while utilizing income, estate and gift tax treaties to minimize tax and regulatory burdens. He establishes foreign trusts and corporations and advises clients on gratuitous transfers of wealth, including the U.S. reporting requirements imposed on foreign trusts with U.S. beneficiaries. He also advises clients on all aspects of withholding obligations on dispositions of U.S. real property interests and represents estates of foreign and domestic decedents with property located in multiple jurisdictions.
