BEPC Background


The Boston Estate Planning Council is one of the oldest and largest interdisciplinary estate planning councils in the country, tracing its roots back to 1930. The Council today has over 800 members and includes a diverse array of professionals working in the greater Boston area, including attorneys, accountants, bank and trust officers, wealth managers and advisors, financial planners, insurance agents, appraisers, planned giving specialists, and other allied professionals. The members are committed to expanding their estate planning knowledge and expertise, growing professional contacts and relationships, and ultimately enhancing the community by facilitating superior client service. The Boston Estate Planning Council is an active affiliate of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC).

The Council provides educational programs and networking opportunities to help its members build and strengthen relationships, learn about ideas and strategies, and share thought leadership.

The principal objectives of the Council are as follows:

  • To foster a better understanding of the relationship among estate and wealth planning specialists from different disciplines and to bring those specialists together in one association;
  • To further the education of members in matters of estate and wealth planning;
  • To encourage the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct; and
  • To help the members render the highest quality of service to clients;
  • To advance public knowledge of the concept and benefits of estate planning.
