Session 1

Title: Restricted Stock and Equity Options


Summary: Equity in stock and options is often a large part of an employee’s compensation. With this comes increased risk and potential reward. Unfortunately, there is little education for employees when the equity is awarded. This session will focus on restricted stock and equity options. We will start by defining the various forms, including incentive and non-qualified stock options. We will discuss the tax implications of equity compensation and potential strategies that employees can implement.

Summary: Come learn about high profile estate disputes and lessons learned on how to avoid the same in your own estate planning practice.  We will discuss situations that create a high likelihood of dispute and brainstorm how to best protect the estate plan.

Title: Succession Planning: How Business Owners Often Don’t do it Right, and How You (or Your Client) Can  


Summary: Learn about what is holding back business owners from proper succession planning (or doing any planning at all), successful ways to plan and what is needed to get unstuck.  Paul Cronin will challenge your assumptions, share stories of clients and his own transitions, some facts and figures, and a path to motivate you (or your clients) towards your succession plan.
