May Educational Seminar:

Cross Cutting Perspectives on Philanthropy

Join us on May 8th from 11:30am-1:30pm at Morgan Lewis.

Moderator: Judith Saxe, Managing Director and Senior Wealth Strategist, CIBC Atlantic Trust
Nakia Maddox-Eubanks,  Senior Vice President, CIBC Atlantic Trust
Ellen Remmer, Senior Partner, The Philanthropic Initiative
Barbara Freedman Wand, Partner, Day Pitney LLP

Philanthropy is a key component of estate planning for many individuals. Various studies have shown that there may be a disconnection between clients and advisors. Clients often feel that their advisors do not raise the topic of philanthropy nearly enough and when they do they tend to focus on technical and tax issues and financial considerations, rather than on a client’s aspirations and goals for themselves and their families.

Join this distinguished panel of experts to learn about philanthropy through different lenses and ask questions.  Topics discussed will include:

  • How can you as an advisor feel more confident discussing philanthropy with clients and help them develop a strategic giving plan?
  • How can an advisor help a client integrate his or her philanthropic values/goals into an overall wealth plan?
  • What philanthropic strategies can be used to engage the next generation?
  • How can responsible, sustainable investing, such as ESG and impact investing, play a role in fulfilling a client’s philanthropic goals?
  • Why is it important to consider philanthropy from the perspective of a not-for profit as well as from a donor’s perspective?

*Lunch will be provided.
