  • Do you know what topics you should discus when Networking at an Event?  What do you do when someone traps you in a conversation and you want to politely leave?  How do you properly work the room and make the Networking event worthwhile?  Should you eat or have a drink while Networking?  How do you break into a conversation?   How long should you stay in a conversation before moving on? How do you politely leave a conversation?  Should you give out your business cards?   Do you properly follow-up after a Networking event?
  • How do you build your Networking circle?  How often should you stay in touch with your contacts?  Are you direct in your ask?  Are you utilizing your Networking time effectively?   How do you ask for help/referrals without seeming pushy or rude?  When should you use email versus calling a Networking contact?

Presenter:


Wendy Lee Austin is a senior executive who spent the past 25+ years executing learning strategies and performance in the financial services’ industry.  Her expertise with high-net worth clients is extensive and is reflected in her customized programs that positively affect performance outcomes.  Her programs have a dramatic impact on culture and the return on investment is so great because she creates real-life scenarios, brings up issues, problems, objections that are accurate and Advisors can recognize and directly relate back to their prospects, clients and employees.  Wendy is a very high-energy, dynamic and a well-known speaker in her field. Participants often comment on how “she makes training and learning so interesting and engaging.” She also ensures that participants in her training leave with actionable steps so they can start utilizing the learning immediately.

 Wendy received a teaching degree in secondary education from the University of Vermont and knew from an early age that teaching and coaching were her calling.  She did sports year-round in high school (soccer, ski team, swimming/diving team) and was part of the Varsity Diving Team at the University of Vermont which allowed her to strengthen her team building skills real-time and be a proficient coach/mentor to the more junior athletes.  Her honesty, transparency, coupled with her vast knowledge of WM and Institutional Management afford her the ability to customize programs in an efficient and effective manner. 

As Chief Learning Officer for BNY Mellon’s WM business for many years, Wendy was responsible for creating and executing the learning strategy for over 2,000 employees globally.  This included all technical training on systems, compliance training, eLearning, onboarding, sales training, leadership and management training, skill building, coaching, mentoring, employee engagement, career development, and key business initiatives.

Wendy currently is a Senior Performance Consultant working with various financial institutions rolling out her trade-marked programs.  Her expertise is in building customized and scalable programs that provide structure, streamline processes, shift culture, create consistency, all while providing a high-level return on the client’s investment.  Her programs are created to produce results that ultimately increase revenue for her clients.
