Planning Tips and Nuggets For 2020

Presented by Martin M. Shenkman, CPA, MBA, PFS, AEP (distinguished), JD

12:00 PM - 12:15 PM - Opening Remarks
12:15 PM - 1:30 PM - Presentation and Q&A

Description:  Creative estate planning ideas, recent developments and a discussion of what practitioners in all disciplines should be considering in the current planning environment. What types of techniques can be used to shift assets out of clients’ estate before year-end? How should those techniques be modified in light of potential election changes, the limited time left before the end of the year and more? How can you preserve access to those assets post-transfer? What creative tips might help note sale transactions (e.g. the “double Wandry” and more)? How and when should GRATs be used and how might their application differ from historical uses?

Learning Objectives:

    1. Learn ways to use exemption before year end and a possible change in law if the election shifts power in Washington.

    2. How to preserve access to assets transferred out of a client’s estate.

    3. Creative application of SLATs, SPATs, DAPTs and GRATs.
