Coming Soon SpeakerElizabeth Crowley Attorney, Bowditch & DeweyElizabeth Crowley handles all aspects of divorce and family law, including divorce, paternity, removal, modification and contempt actions, high-conflict child custody disputes, and alimony and child support actions. She has substantial experience representing clients with complex financial holdings and managing related disputes. She also drafts and negotiates prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.In her fiduciary, estate and trust litigation practice, Elizabeth handles all aspects of probate and trust law, including will contests, trust disputes, accounting actions, breach of fiduciary duty actions, guardianships, and conservatorships. She has skillfully handled numerous high-conflict family and non-family disputes over family businesses, inheritances, and control over and rights to trust benefits.
Elizabeth blends her deep knowledge of the law and adept advocacy and negotiation skills to advance and achieve her client’s goals. Known as Hague Convention cases, these matters require a deep understanding of international regulations and nerves of steel to bring these children back home where law dictates they belong. Session 3Valuation in Advance of a Planned Business Succession EventDescriptionUnderstanding the basics of business valuation can help you better advise your business owner clients in building value and planning their succession. Beyond the basics of business valuation, this session will introduce key concepts including the value gap, owner readiness, ranges of value, key person discounts, characteristics of the right type of business appraiser to hire, and an effective way to incentivize successful owner succession.
SpeakerChris Mellen Senior Managing Director, Valuation Research Chris Mellen is a Senior Managing Director with Valuation Research Corporation (VRC), leading its National Gift/Estate Valuation Practice. Previously, he was president of Delphi Valuation Advisors, Inc., which he founded in 2000 and sold to VRC in 2015. Chris holds six professional valuation and M&A designations (ASA, MCBA, CVA, ICVS, ABAR, and CM&AA) and earned an MBA in Finance. His experience includes involvement in over 4,000 business and intangible asset valuations since 1989. He has served on several valuation committees, taught valuation courses worldwide, led over 150 seminars, published over 40 articles, and provided expert testimony in court. Chris is also the author of the third edition of a 480-page Wiley-published textbook, Valuation for M&A: Building and Measuring Private Company Value.

Certificates of Completion
BEPC's educational events may meet the requirements of Rule 15D under the Massachusetts Establishment and Administration of Mandatory Professional Education for the Practice of Public Accountancy. BEPC is also a CE Sponsor through the CFP Board. BEPC applies for CE credit approval through the CFP Board for our educational events. BEPC also applies for CE credit approval through the American Bankers Association to support CTFA designees. BEPC issues certificates of completion for educational events. The certificates list the number of CPE credit hours or CE credits awarded for the event. The certificate will also state if the seminar was approved by the CFP Board or ABA for CE credit.
