2024 BEPC Annual Gala to be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 


Mark your calendars for the 2024 BEPC Annual Gala at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. 

There will be a small block of rooms available at the Marriott for those looking to stay the evening at the Marriott. More information can be found by selecting 'Plan Your Trip' below, or selecting 'Accommodations'. 

The BEPC Annual Gala is a celebration of the 2024 Excellence Award recipient, the 2024 President’s Award recipient, and the transition of our presidents.

Meet Your 2024 Excellence Award winner

Laura K. Barooshian, CPA, AEP®, CAP®
Partner in the Private Client Services Group of PKF O’Connor Davies

Laura K. Barooshian, CPA, AEP®, CAP® is a partner in the Private Client Services Group and an Executive Committee Member of PKF O’Connor Davies, formerly DGC. She has over 25 years of experience providing income, estate and gift tax planning, and consulting services for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, private foundations, expatriates and closely held businesses. In addition, she has experience with international estate planning and collaborates with estate attorneys in this area.

 Laura is a long-time member of the Boston Estate Planning Council. She has served on various committees, as a board member and as an officer, and as BEPC’s president in 2017-2018. She is also a past recipient of the BEPC President’s Award.

Laura has been an active participant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, she serves in a leadership role with the Boston Women’s Leadership Council and has been on The Boston Foundation Professional Advisor Committee & Professional Advisor Network. She is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Master of Science degree in Taxation and Bentley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy.

Laura is First Vice-Chair at The Baker Center for Children and Families as well as North County Land Trust’s Treasurer. In addition, she supports the Lunenburg Music Aiders and Middle-High School Marching Band. Laura lives in Lunenburg with her husband, Mark, children Tyler and Emma, and their two Rottweilers.


 

Meet Your 2024 President's Award Recipient

Elliot Rotstein, CAP®
Partner and Senior Client Advisor at Ballentine Partners

 

Elliot Rotstein, CAP® is a Partner and Senior Client Advisor at Ballentine Partners, an independent multi-family office headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts. With his diverse background in family wealth advising, he is a knowledgeable and trusted advisor and a valued connector amongst his industry peers.

Elliot has 17 years of professional experience and is a deeply engaged member of the BEPC Community. He has led numerous committees and served on the Board of Directors from 2018 to 2021. Following his service on the Board, Elliot continued to serve in vital roles with the leadership development committee, a group he has been involved with since its establishment.

As a Senior Client Advisor at Ballentine Partners, Elliot leads numerous client engagements where he and the firm’s client teams deliver client-centric planning and sophisticated investment advice. He advises families on a range of issues related to wealth management, including investment strategy, tax and estate planning, risk management, family well-being, philanthropy, and financial education for family members.

Before joining Ballentine Partners, Elliot was a Partner at MPI Business Valuation and served as the Director of Charitable Planning at Fidelity Charitable.

Elliot is a graduate of Ithaca College and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP). Outside of BEPC, he remains active in numerous community and industry organizations, including the Boston Foundation (PAN and PAC Alum) and the Community Foundation for MetroWest (PALC member). Elliot was a 2022 recipient of the Alliance Young Professionals Award awarded by the Family Wealth Alliance. He lives outside of Boston with his wife Rebecca and their three children, Lilah, Leo, and Emmett.


 

 Meet Your 2024 Emcee

Anthony Everett is the Emmy Award-winning anchor of WCVB Channel 5’s nightly newsmagazine, “Chronicle.”  He joined the program in September 2005.  He has also served as co-anchor of NewsCenter 5 at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11PM.  Everett has been honored with multiple Emmy Awards, including Emmys in 2016 for his reporting on Education, and for his reporting on the high incidence of cancer among Boston Firefighters. In 2019 and 2015, he received Emmy Awards for his reporting on Alzheimer’s as a societal concern.  He also received the Emmy for hosting a special on Holiday Lights in 2015 and for a special on the Boston Pops 125th anniversary in 2011. His work as host of “Chronicle” was recognized with an Emmy in 2010.  He also was honored with Emmys for his reporting on the recycling industry in 2009, and for a report on special education in 2008.  In 2015, Everett received a first place National Headliner award for Health and Science reporting. Also in 2010, The Improper Bostonian magazine named “Chronicle” Boston’s Best Local TV Program.

Everett has served as WCVB’s senior correspondent for major national events and breaking news and has regularly contributed to special reports for all WCVB newscasts.  His strong reporting skills have helped WCVB garner multiple prestigious awards, including the Edward R. Murrow Awards for News Series and News Documentary in 2013, the Associated Press Awards for Investigative Reporting and Documentary Reporting in 2012, and the National Headliner Award for Breaking News in 2003.

Everett previously served as co-anchor of the station’s Midday, 6 and 11 PM weekend newscasts. During this period, Everett twice received recognition from the National Headliner Awards in the category of “Spot News.”

In 2000, Everett shared the “Best Newscast” award from the Associated Press for his work in the early evening. Also in 2000, readers of The Improper Bostonian magazine voted Everett “Best Newscaster” in Boston. He has won numerous additional awards, including the 1996 National Headliner Award and Massachusetts Broadcasters Association First Place award for spot news coverage. In 1993, the RTNDA recognized him with the “Continuing Coverage” award and in 1991 he received an award from the Associated Press in the same category.

Everett’s dedication to charitable work has led to collaborations with organizations such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Habitat for Humanity, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, the Boston Ballet, the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, the Home for Little Wanderers, Derby Academy, and more. As a longtime advocate, volunteer and board member for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Everett was honored with the Public Education Award in 1992, and in 2006 received one of the Society’s highest honors, the Partners in Progress Award.

Everett began his tenure at WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 in 1990 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to joining Channel 5, Everett was a general assignment reporter and weekday anchor on the 6 and 11 PM newscasts at WVIT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, CT. Everett began his professional broadcasting career in 1984 as a sports reporter and anchor at KSPN-TV in Aspen, Colo. He later became KSPN’s news director and remained with the station until 1987. 

Everett is a graduate of Tufts University in Medford, MA. He has taught journalism classes at Tufts and currently serves as a guest lecturer in their Film and Media Studies Program.  He has also lectured and spoken at Boston College, Harvard Business School, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and many other educational and community groups throughout New England. Everett is an FAA-certified and licensed drone pilot and enjoys aerial photography, skiing, cycling, boating, and fishing as hobbies.

Event Cancellation and Substitution Policy 

Annual Gala Refunds and Cancellations
The deadline to receive a full refund is May 1, 2024. All cancellation requests must be received in writing via email at bepc@bepc.org. Refunds are subject to a $50.00 processing fee.

Annual Gala Substitutions 
A registrant may send a substitute person to the Annual Gala in his/her place. Requests for substitutions should be sent in writing by email to bepc@bepc.org, by May 8, 2024. No changes may be made less than seven business days prior to the Annual Gala. 

Annual Gala Onsite Registrations
Attendees are strongly encouraged to register in advance of the Annual Gala. Onsite registration will be available this year.
