We will discuss the implications of the new Massachusetts Millionaire’s Tax. The discussion will highlight both the application of the new tax as well as planning opportunities for the 2023 tax filing. - Overview of Massachusetts tax rates

In addition to the Millionaire’s Tax, we will also discuss the increase in the Massachusetts estate tax exemption and changes to the operation of the tax. This will cover: - Operation of the credit

- Application of the tax to out-of-state real estate.

Matthew Hillery, Director Goulston & Storrs PC

Matthew is a director at Goulston & Storrs PC, in Boston, Massachusetts. He concentrates his practice on estate and tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and families in the United States and abroad, trust and estate administration,
the formation and operation of nonprofit charitable organizations, and issues relating to charitable giving. Mr. Hillery regularly lectures and writes on estate planning and charitable planning topics. He is a graduate of Harvard
College and Harvard Law School.
Laura Barooshian, Partner PKF O'Connor Davies

Laura is a Partner in the Private Client Group at DGC, a division of PKF O’Connor Davies. She has over 20 years of experience providing income, estate and gift tax planning, consulting services, and tax compliance.
Laura’s areas of expertise include tax planning and compliance for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, private foundations, expatriates, and closely held businesses. She also provides international taxation services for individuals. In addition, she has experience with international estate planning and collaborates with estate attorneys in this area.
Laura advises clients on such matters as stock options and compensation planning, philanthropic planning alternatives, and estate and family gift planning. She consults with clients on managing their global income and estate tax liabilities, which include expatriate taxation, foreign property, and international investments.
